YouTube announced a set of AI-driven updates for the YouTube Studio app during its Made On YouTube annual event, focused on helping creators analyze unpublished work and optimize audience-facing elements.
Draft feedback and research feed
The Studio app will add a draft-feedback tool that uses AI to review unpublished videos and offer suggestions on pacing, structure and storytelling. YouTube described the feature as aimed at helping creators refine videos before publishing.
Alongside draft feedback, a new research feed will surface the types of content that are performing well on the platform, so creators can study trends and adapt ideas for their channels. YouTube also said it is expanding Ask Studio, its AI Q&A feature, to iOS and Android.
Thumbnails, titles and testing
Creators will be able to generate thumbnails and titles that are matched to a video’s content and to their own style preferences. A dynamic thumbnail feature can produce three options and display each variant to a different segment of the audience.
YouTube said creators have already run more than 40 million A/B tests on titles and thumbnails. The company plans to allow testing of up to three video cuts soon, enabling creators to see which opening hook performs best. Later this year, Studio will begin automatically monitoring thumbnail performance and replace underperforming images proactively.
The company also said it is updating analytics to go beyond raw metrics by explaining why videos perform as they do and offering advice to improve engagement.
Additional tools announced include conversational editing for Shorts and new features in the YouTube Create app. YouTube provided timelines for several items: expansion of Ask Studio to mobile is rolling out, testing of multiple video cuts is coming soon, and automated thumbnail monitoring will arrive later this year.
