Google announced on Aug 17, 2026 that Gemini and Pixel have entered long-term partnerships with five European football clubs: Arsenal FC, FC Barcelona, FC Bayern München, Liverpool FC and Paris Saint-Germain.
Scope of the partnerships
Google said Gemini will act as the clubs’ Official Consumer AI while Pixel will serve as the Official Smartphone Partner. According to Google, Gemini will provide fans with match insights, statistics and instant answers during games, using what the company describes as advanced agentic capabilities to help surface relevant information.
Pixel will work with club media teams to capture behind-the-scenes material. Google said the clubs will use Pixel cameras and the company’s AI tools in a “Shot on Pixel” series to produce content that highlights matchday moments and player perspectives.
Focus on women’s football and device features
Google stated that an explicit aim of the partnerships is to increase the visibility of women’s football. The company said it will partner equally across both men’s and women’s teams to create and amplify content, citing record attendance at recent women’s tournaments alongside a persistent coverage gap.
The announcement also noted a consumer-facing detail: official club wallpapers are available to customize Pixel 11 devices, enabling fans to display club branding on their phones.
The company encouraged followers to view the new content via the clubs’ official channels and Google’s Pixel and Gemini accounts. Google attributed the partnerships to a desire to bring supporters closer to match stories, statistics and exclusive content this season.
