Ringg, an Indian voice AI startup that began as text-to-speech provider DesiVocal, has raised $10 million from Peak XV Partners as an extension of its Series A. The new investment brings the Series A total to $15.5 million after an earlier $5.5 million tranche this year.
Market position and strategy
Ringg processes about 20 million call attempts per month and says voice remains central to customer interactions in India: a Truecaller study found more than 76% of consumers in India prefer talking to businesses by phone. The company now focuses on automating higher-value, outcome-driven workflows rather than only high-volume, low-complexity tasks.
Co-founder Siddharth Tripathi said Ringg initially handled outbound calling, lead qualification and loan collection, but found those use cases competed primarily on price and lacked long-term stickiness. The startup still supports simpler tasks but is prioritizing appointment booking for healthcare clinics, abandoned-cart recovery for e-commerce, and onboarding/KYC checks for fintech.
Customers, product and partners
Ringg’s early commercial traction included Cred as its first customer; it has since signed clients such as Flipkart, Practo, Groww and PolicyBazaar. Tripathi said Ringg’s agents operate across 1,200 clinics for the healthcare app Practo. Voice calls account for more than 70% of the company’s business, and the product now also supports chat, WhatsApp and browser-based support automation for clients including Shell.
The company builds its own speech recognition and generation models and aims eventually to control the full voice stack, including infrastructure and deployment. Tripathi acknowledged that owning the entire stack remains costly today, so Ringg currently functions as an orchestration layer that routes tasks to different models depending on use case.
Rishen Kapoor, a principal at Peak XV, said Ringg’s early work as a model research lab underpins its ability to handle complex, end-to-end enterprise workflows such as merchant onboarding and L1/L2 support with consistent quality.
Ringg has 40 employees, hired more than 15 people in the past three months, and is recruiting forward-deployed engineers and researchers focused on reducing model operating costs.
