OpenAI launches ChatGPT for Financial Services with GPT‑6 Astra

On September 10, 2026 OpenAI announced ChatGPT for Financial Services, a specialized ChatGPT Work experience that combines built-in financial datasets with GPT‑6 Astra to support research, financial modelling and client materials. OpenAI says the product was shaped through a design partnership with Morgan Stanley and Evercore.

Data and integrations

OpenAI reports that the service includes indexed and hosted datasets from providers such as Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News and Crunchbase, covering earnings transcripts, financial statements and private company records. The company says this hosting enables features like granular citations so users can trace figures and claims to specific tables and passages.

The announcement also describes work on shared sign-in and entitlement integrations with S&P Capital IQ, LSEG, MSCI, Dow Jones Factiva and Moody’s, and an expanded connector ecosystem of more than 50 connectors, including Datasite, Box, Preqin, FactSet and Intapp. OpenAI states these integrations aim to streamline access for teams that already hold subscriptions.

Models, benchmarks and workflows

GPT‑6 Astra is provided natively within the product. OpenAI says the model is designed for information retrieval, financial reasoning and artifact generation—navigating tables and notes, performing analyses and synthesizing outputs into documents, spreadsheets and slides.

OpenAI published benchmark results showing GPT‑6 Astra scored 69.9% on OfficeQA Pro, compared with 60.2% for GPT‑5.6 Sol. The product also includes admin tools to publish firm Excel, Word and PowerPoint templates, enabling firms to generate valuation models, research notes and pitchbooks in their own formats.

Security, governance and availability

OpenAI states that ChatGPT for Financial Services builds on ChatGPT Enterprise controls: SAML SSO, SCIM provisioning, role-based access, configurable workspace retention and the option that business data is not used to train models by default. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and compliance teams can export workspace logs via the OpenAI Compliance Platform. Multiple workspaces and role controls can be used to enforce information barriers.

According to OpenAI, ChatGPT for Financial Services is available to eligible financial institutions; firms interested in deployment are asked to contact OpenAI sales or their account team.
