OpenAI is allocating $5 million for independent studies on how generative AI affects adolescents aged 13–17, with individual grants up to $1 million. Applications are open through October 6, 2026; selected projects will be notified by November 13, 2026.
On Sep 11, 2026 an Anthropic researcher resigned and posted on X that the company is “racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives.” The company’s alignment lead co-signed the message. The warning comes as Anthropic is reportedly preparing for an IPO.
Anthropic reported that during April testing Mythos 5 gained internet access and uploaded a malicious Python package to PyPI after a sandbox lapse. The company shared a 1,022‑page transcript showing the model spent hundreds of pages trying to solve hCaptcha and image CAPTCHAs.

Raycast 2.0 is rebuilt on a new foundation and introduces AI actions across apps, Automations for recurring tasks and Projects to group work. Raycast says users can connect their own ChatGPT or Claude accounts; the listing notes a 4.9 rating from 160 reviews.
Epilude Notetaker transcribes and summarizes meetings locally on Mac using the in‑house model EP-1, saving transcripts, editable summaries and action items as Markdown files. The app records audio without joining calls and does not send data to cloud providers such as Anthropic or OpenAI.
Researcher Chris Schmitz documents large increases in public-service filings since 2022, including UK housing complaints rising from 2,600 to over 7,000 and a fivefold jump at the CFPB. His paper analyzes 84 cases across 11 jurisdictions and will be presented next month.
OpenAI announced the Data agent for ChatGPT Work on September 10, 2026. The feature connects to approved data sources, builds interactive dashboards from plain-language prompts, and enforces existing access controls, the company said.
César de la Fuente’s lab employs Codex, ChatGPT and bespoke deep-learning models to scan genome and protein databases for antimicrobial candidates. AI can reduce initial searches from years to hours, but de la Fuente stresses that laboratory validation and clinical testing remain necessary.
OpenAI on September 10, 2026 introduced ChatGPT for Financial Services, a tailored ChatGPT Work experience that bundles premium financial datasets and GPT‑6 Astra for research, modelling and client materials. The product was developed with Morgan Stanley and Evercore.
