Chatham Financial Leverages Codex and GPT-5.6
Chatham Financial has integrated Codex and GPT-5.6 into its internal development processes, client tools, and workflow reengineering services, aiming to minimize manual efforts and enhance traceability, as reported on October 2, 2026.
Reengineering Trade Validation
Through its Process Zero service, Chatham has restructured trade validation by focusing on necessary inputs and identifying areas where human judgment is essential. The Controls and Data Integrity team has developed an application using Codex that collects transaction evidence, compares key terms, and flags discrepancies for review. Early measurements indicate that this application has reduced review time from approximately 30 minutes to under 4 minutes. The team is currently validating the application’s performance against experienced reviewers before expanding automation. Alex Nordlinger, Co-head of Chatham’s AI Advisory practice, emphasized the goal of producing “easily auditable and more accurate results faster.”
Scaling Employee-Built Applications and Chatham Onyx
Chatham employees utilize ChatGPT and Codex for various tasks, including research, analysis, drafting, and software development. The firm has established an internal platform named Chatham Vibes, where staff can create applications; AI features within these applications operate on GPT-5.6 Terra by default, with GPT-5.6 Sol available as an optional upgrade per application. These applications facilitate client workflows, such as reviewing maturing-cap trades, creating pricing workbooks and rate sheets, developing hedging dashboards, and verifying trade confirmations. Chatham underscores that professionals provide the necessary market context and judgment to assess and refine outputs before they are delivered to clients.
Chatham Onyx: A Next-Generation Operating System
Chatham Onyx is characterized as a next-generation capital markets operating system that integrates assets, debt, and derivatives into a connected, governed data environment. Codex is employed throughout the Onyx development lifecycle to assist in planning, building, testing, documenting, and reviewing software. John DeGuenther, Chief Technology Officer, noted that Codex aids in expediting the transition from product vision to functional capability while upholding standards for accuracy, security, and accountability.
Task Management and Future Plans
The Onyx platform intelligently routes tasks among various models, including GPT-5.6 Sol, GPT-5.6 Terra, GPT-5.4, and GPT-4.1, based on cost-effectiveness and required accuracy. An example of this is ChatFIN, which summarizes historical market patterns, assists users in understanding their portfolios, and links to legal documents related to debt, derivatives, and lease terms. Chatham plans to broaden the scope of trade validation to include more product types, continue refining employee-built applications, and leverage Codex to develop additional capabilities for Onyx. Mike Noonan, Co-Chief Operating Officer, stated that the firm aims to liberate experts from routine assembly tasks, allowing them to apply their judgment where it delivers the most value for clients.
