Dynamic Island Interface for Mac
Halo offers a Dynamic Island-like interface for Mac computers, adaptable to the top, left, or right edge, regardless of whether the device has a notch. This application displays alerts and mini-interfaces for music, calls, messages, and small utilities without requiring an account.
Version 1.4 Highlights
The recent 1.4 update introduces several new features. Users can now view usage limits for Claude Code and Codex in the notch area. Additionally, a Focus/Break timer with a minute ruler has been added, along with battery information for each connected device. The update also includes a window styled like System Settings for managing various options.
External Monitor Control on Apple Silicon
For users with Apple silicon Macs, Halo enhances functionality by mapping keyboard brightness keys to control an external monitor’s actual backlight through DDC/CI. This allows adjustments to contrast and input selection, utilizing DDC/CI commands to manage supported external displays rather than relying solely on local macOS brightness settings.
Additional Features
Halo includes features such as Now Playing indicators, a file shelf, and quick clipboard access. It supports dictation that types into any app while holding the Fn key and features a small avatar that follows the cursor to monitor active AI agents. Notifications from any installed app are presented within the Dynamic Island area.
Availability and Pricing
Halo is currently available with a three-day free trial, followed by a one-time payment of $9.99. The developer does not require a user account to use the app. Compatibility and control behavior depend on hardware and display firmware that support DDC/CI and Apple silicon features.
