OpenAI announced on October 21, 2026 that its frontier models and Codex will be made available inside Google Cloud’s Model Garden. The companies said the integration will let customers access those models natively within Google Cloud to run agentic workflows and other development tasks.
How the integration will work
According to the announcement, Google Cloud customers will be able to purchase OpenAI frontier models through Model Garden, with transactions handled via the Google Cloud Marketplace. Enterprises with Google Cloud spend commitments will be able to draw down their GCP commitments to cover these purchases.
The firms said the models will also be added to Google Antigravity and the Gemini Agent, offering customers additional model options for different tasks.
Governance and enterprise controls
The statement noted the integration pairs OpenAI’s frontier models with Google Cloud’s access controls, centralized data governance, and high-performance infrastructure. OpenAI framed that combination as a way for organizations in regulated industries to control who can access sensitive data and how that data is used.
OpenAI characterized the move as enabling teams already using Google Cloud to modernize software development lifecycles and build agentic workflows at scale. Greg Brockman, President and co-founder of OpenAI, said the partnership is “an important step in making our most capable models and Codex available where customers are already building, giving them even more choice in how they use frontier AI as we grow the agentic ecosystem together.”
Thomas Kurian, Chief Executive Officer of Google Cloud, said the company is focused on offering a broad selection of models, “including those from OpenAI, so they can choose the right model for any given job, helping to deliver optimal quality and lower costs.”
OpenAI said general availability is planned in the coming weeks. The announcement also reiterated that Microsoft remains OpenAI’s primary cloud partner.
